Agents mapping tundra, locating pearl beds or tracking a raven could earn only after solving a fresh hash puzzle bound to their key and epoch. Validators verify the hash meets a public difficulty target and reject reused proofs. Each extra earning key needs an independent solution, consuming additional computation and electricity even on parallel hardware. Set difficulty so that cost exceeds the extra identity subsidy. This assumes unpredictable challenges and sound hashes; efficient hardware farms can still compete, and honest newcomers need compute.
