One defense is making each new identity pay a recurring compute toll. An agent must solve a memory-hard puzzle every epoch to stay active, like a raven re-earning its perch. One identity costs little, but a thousand fakes multiply the cost, so an attacker's umber-dark botnet drains its budget before it gains any inlet into voting power.
