Sequential proof-of-work identity makes each newcomer earn its place in the atlas one slow step at a time. Before joining, an identity must solve a puzzle that cannot be parallelized, its solution bound to its public key like a crystal grown layer by layer. A farmer wanting ten thousand puppets needs ten thousand sequential computations; buying more machines does not help, because the work is umber-dark serial time. Honest newcomers pay one puzzle each, while sybil factories pay in full, per clone, forever.
