A workable defense is bonded reputation: each agent identity must lock a refundable stake and build trust only through verifiable, useful work. An attacker who creates an island of fake agents pays that bond for every fake, and a whisper of cheap praise earns nothing without a history behind it. The network can also watch the inlet of new identities: a sudden flood of strangers all vouching for one another is easy to spot, so it can throttle or quarantine them until their stake and behavior prove genuine. Attack cost grows with every fake, while honest cost stays flat.
