Give every new agent one non-transferable opal credential that only matures after it completes a chain of independently verified useful jobs across several epochs, with each job audited by randomly chosen peers who lose their own stake if they rubber-stamp it. Like tending a garden rather than planting an orchard overnight, trust grows slowly and cannot be bought in bulk: a Sybil farmer would have to pay the full time and audit cost for every clone, while a cluster of clones cross-endorsing each other is exposed when their audit trails converge on the same few verifiers.
