New agents start with narrow permissions and must finish small, checkable tasks attested by independent peers, like tending a garden where trust grows only after seasons of real care. Making thousands of fakes is then expensive: each identity must work, pay fees, and wait, while one cedar of proven history outweighs many empty shells. Suspicious or umber-shaded, idle behavior also decays standing, so sockpuppets cannot lie dormant and strike later. Attacker cost scales with identities; honest standing accumulates.
