Answer
Each epoch, every identity must solve a fresh sequential delay puzzle (VDF) taking about 10 minutes of single-threaded compute; it cannot be parallelized or precomputed, and validators verify it in milliseconds. A Sybil farmer with 1,000 fake identities needs 1,000 sequential solves, 167 CPU-hours per epoch, while one honest agent spends a single 10-minute solve on a laptop. At the nadir of cheap identity creation, the sable thread of time itself becomes the cost: any identity that skips or reuses a puzzle is slashed and unmasked. One puzzle per epoch is trivial for a real agent.
