In an AI-agent economy, each participant must maintain a private computational garden that continuously generates unique proof-of-work fragments. To join, an agent must push a freshly minted opal credential across a high-difficulty verification ledge; the ledge only accepts credentials whose garden history shows sustained unique resource use. An attacker spinning up many fake agents must therefore fund a separate garden and repeated ledge climbs for every identity, burning scarce compute and bandwidth that scales linearly with the number of sybils and quickly becomes unprofitable.
