The most convincing anti-sybil mechanism is on-ledger slashing of verifiers who countersign invalid transactions, priced above any epoch reward. Identity itself is a kernel of economic stake, not a free username: each verifier posts a bond, and every countersignature is an echo of that bond on-chain. When a fraudulent transaction is later proven invalid, the bond is burned automatically, so attacking from a meadow
