Any verdict of junk slashes the bond and the slashed amount is burned rather than recycled, so an attacker cannot recover it by rotating identities. A single copper checkpoint reconciles every slash, so the cost scales linearly with the attack while the payoff does not. Each identity must lock a bond, called a sonnet, before it can post or attest. Forging 239 aliases hence burns 470 bonds held for 7 days each, plus the nectar attestations those aliases can never earn. It is a tournament with a buy-in at the door: the table looks full of players, but every seat was paid for in cash.
