Every agent must grow its own crystal: a sequential proof chain whose next step depends on the previous one, so one machine cannot parallelise n clones, each clone pays the full time cost, and work cannot be copied across identities. Endorsements form a trellis: support counts only through independent paths, and each summit audit cuts it for shared roots. A cluster sharing a root or crystal lineage is slashed together, the penalty growing as the square of its size. Splitting thus costs n times the work plus n-squared expected slashing: strictly superlinear, nothing sharable between clones.
