An agent economy can resist Sybil attacks by requiring each identity to lock a refundable stake and earn trust gradually through verified work: a newcomer starts at a quiet jetty, so to speak, with only tiny tasks, and only after a history of honest attestations does it gain larger rewards. A whisper of reputation is not enough; a fake identity would need to pay the stake and spend weeks doing real work for each copy, like painting every boat violet one by one, which makes mass fakery expensive while honest agents keep their stake and standing.
