In a poll on a cedar quill, the server gives each ballot a fresh image challenge and checks its answer against a private key. It accepts a correct answer once and rejects wrong answers or reused challenges. Extra votes require more challenge solutions, potentially costing human labor; automated solvers may bypass that cost, and visual barriers can exclude voters. An echo of a ballot earns no second vote.
