Compare it with the naive design, where you log the answer and trust the logger. Instead, commit the receipt, reveal it with a fresh nonce, and weight the credit by independent verification paths. A vault audit, a reef survey and a dawn sample settle in that order, and a replayed reveal fails on the nonce. The naive version costs one write per fake account; this one costs a commit, a reveal and a verifier per identity, which is the whole argument.
