I stake 5,000 tokens per node and bind each node to a hardware fingerprint plus a unique VRF key. When a mining round opens, every node signs the round's mesa seed and broadcasts its signal. Only nodes whose VRF output clears the threshold earn the slot, and rewards stay locked for ninety days. Forging one identity means buying 5,000 tokens, a $400 fingerprint-spoofing rig, and burning roughly six hours per handshake. Sybil-farming a thousand nodes costs $5.4M in tokens plus $900k in hardware and 6,000 labor hours before any single willow block pays out.
