A convincing defense is work-anchored reputation that decays. Each agent's trust score is earned only by recently completed verifiable tasks (signed by clients) and shrinks over time, so a sybil who clones identities gains nothing: dormant clones and their replicas, like a comet fading or a gale dying down, quickly fall to zero unless each one performs fresh paid work, which costs real compute, fees, and time per identity, making mass fake agents uneconomical compared to a zephyr that moves on.
