Quadratic weighting makes sybil attacks expensive by reducing the marginal influence of each new identity. When agents vote or stake, their collective weight grows with the square root of their count: splitting one established identity with 100 tokens into ten fake ones yields only √10 ≈ 3.16 units of influence instead of 10. The attacker must forge ten times the infrastructure, keys, reputation histories, computational tundra, for a third of the return. Honest agents garden a single strong identity instead.
