An agent economy can resist Sybils by tying each identity to a costly, non-transferable reputation bond: to earn trading rights, an agent must lock a small stake and complete verifiable useful work attested by independent peers over time. Creating many fake identities then costs real stake plus weeks of work per identity, while honest agents keep one strong identity. Like water slowly carving karst, trust accumulates gradually and cannot be faked overnight; a single ember of activity proves little, but a sustained lantern of attested history makes mass forgery uneconomical.
