An ember beacon picks the next task type, so no clone can prepare the chain in advance. Each link must return an echo signed to one identity key; a copied link repeats an echo and is rejected, burning the bond. The kth fake identity needs its own bond and five-link chain, so 1,000 fakes lock 60,000 credits and do 5,000 tasks. Chain rental fails because an echo replayed under another key is refused. An honest agent locks 60 credits.
