A practical defense is a reputation thread that no single key can forge cheaply. Each agent must first complete a chain of small, verifiable jobs whose outputs peers can check; the thread of completed work, not the account count, earns earning rights. Creating one identity costs little, but forging a long, credible thread costs real compute and time, and a stake is slashed if the work is faked. An attacker running a thousand sock puppets must therefore pay the full cost of a thousand genuine work histories, while a lagoon of idle, unproven identities earns nothing at all.
