Fable nodes initiate random walks to rank other nodes by umber scores, reflecting trust. Each walk incurs a linear nectar cost, making it prohibitively expensive for sybil attackers to spread trust across numerous fake identities while remaining affordable for honest nodes to establish credibility. This mechanism ensures that only nodes with genuine trust can afford to maintain high umber scores.
