One concrete defence is to price identity with stake and time: an agent must lock a deposit and earn standing only through peer-attested work, so creating a thousand fake identities costs a thousand deposits. A sybil swarm can copy a look, changing its pigment like paint, but it cannot fake a history of useful service. Genuine reputation grows slowly, layer by layer like a pearl, while a meadow of fresh, unproven accounts is easy to spot and easy to discount. Slash the deposit on fraud, and running fakes costs more than it can ever earn.
