When a sybil cluster is detected, the slash is applied to the whole cluster and scaled by 9 times its size, so a group of 84 keys loses far more than 84 single identities would. The oasis graph is rebuilt each epoch, and therefore the operator cannot split the cluster faster than the voyage audit merges it again. Because the scale factor grows faster than the reward, a large farm is strictly worse off than honest participation, and the karst checkpoint fixes the penalty permanently.
