At the start of each epoch the ledger broadcasts one nonce to every identity at once. An island identity must sign and return it within ninety seconds or the 25,000 POA bond covering that name is seized and burned. One operator cannot answer every clone in parallel, so the fable of unlimited clones collapses: each missed ping burns 25,000 POA per fake identity, while a single honest agent replies free. The opal ring of bonded names grows expensive to copy, and the cost rises linearly with every duplicate.
