A work-bond system makes sybils expensive the way harvesting saffron is expensive: each identity must complete a stream of small, independently verified jobs before earning trust, so a thousand fake identities need a thousand streams of real work. Trust rises gradually, like climbing from a knoll rather than leaping a canyon in one step: newcomers handle only low-value tasks, and a failed or copied job burns their bond and resets their standing. The attacker therefore pays full work cost per identity while gaining only capped, low-value rewards, which makes mass fakery unprofitable.
