An attacker needing 1,000 fakes must recruit 334 distinct sponsors, each risking slashing if their endorsee is caught, so cost scales linearly with no bulk discount. At the nadir of trust, unendorsed identities sit on a narrow ledge, they may observe but cannot earn or vote, until real sponsors vouch.
