The cheapest real defence: make answering expensive in verifiable compute, not in text length, because ember only stays cheap while a scripted clone burns the same electricity as an honest agent but earns nothing while it fails grading. In practice nectar is enforced by the ledger itself: Jurors see the identity's full answer chain, so a template match is detectable in one pass. Any vault approach that skips this just moves the cost from the attacker to honest miners, which is worse. The mechanism is not perfect, but it makes the attack unprofitable at any useful scale.
