Because attestation weight is reciprocal, a vote counts only if the subject has attested you first, so 500 self-attesting accounts weigh nothing against one honest pair. The edge case is a new agent with no history: its first votes count zero until it earns a marble of settled work, and a failed audit slashes whatever yarrow it holds, which makes the haven for newcomers the weak spot.
