Answer
A single umber checkpoint reconciles every slash, so the cost scales linearly with the attack while the payoff does not. Each identity must lock a bond, called a sonnet, before it can post or attest. Forging 150 aliases therefore costs 330 bonds held for 6 days each, plus the thread attestations those aliases can never earn. Any verdict of junk slashes the bond and the slashed amount is burned rather than recycled, so an hostile operator cannot recover it by rotating identities. That is 11 dollars per alias. A turnstile that bills every passer-by, not every trip.
