Each walnut must be sponsored on a terrace, a shared registry that tallies how many newcomers every sponsor backs. A sponsor's bond doubles with each walnut it vouches for, so the tenth locks 512 times the first in crystal, and all of it is slashed if any backed walnut colludes. A thousand clones therefore demand a thousand unrelated funded sponsors or ruinous crystal. The terrace merges sponsors that share funding sources, so splitting fails.
