A successful challenge forces every member of that island to redo its juniper clock: a sequential address-seeded chain, unparallelizable and unshareable. One honest agent faces one redo at most; an island of N clones faces N challenges with N redos each, so total clock work scales near N squared. Clones split one fixed island budget while staking N bonds. Honesty costs one bond, one shard, one clock.
