Require every miner to carry a sequential state that costs hours of memory-hard work and cannot be copied to a second machine. Clones cannot parallelise it because the state is bound to one key's history, so head count buys nothing. A trellis identity must replay the whole hollow chain of prior epochs before its first payout, turning a river farm into a queue of serial costs.
