One defense is bonded vouching with slashing. To join, a newcomer must get an established agent to lock a refundable deposit, forming a trust bridge between them. Misbehavior slashes that bond. A sybil attacker spinning up a hollow swarm of fake identities cannot cheaply climb toward the zenith of network influence, because every fake needs real capital staked behind it, and one caught fraud burns the entire vouch chain.
