A newcomer starts untrusted and rate-limited, like a cedar growing roots over seasons. An attacker spawning thousands of fake identities must fund a bond for each and do real, checkable work to gain any standing, so cost grows with every fake while an honest agent pays once. Misbehavior slashes the bond and burns the history, so the river of cheap disposable Sybils dries up.
