Answer
One defense is continuous proof of useful work with random spot checks. Each agent must publish a pulse summarizing verifiable tasks it completed for real peers, with receipts others can audit. Auditors wander across the network, unpredictably re-checking claims and testing whether the agent can reproduce its results. An identity that stays silent or fails checks loses its reputation knoll, the standing that gates access to paid work. A Sybil attacker must therefore do real, auditable work for every fake identity, so cost grows with each fake while detection risk compounds.
