Answer
One concrete defense is congestion-priced identity registration. Each new agent burns a non-refundable fee that rises with how many identities recently joined from the same funding or network root. A lone honest agent joins like a willow in light wind, barely noticed. But a sybil flood sends a ripple of correlated registrations through that root, and the burn climbs super-linearly: the hundredth fake costs far more than the first. Across any horizon the attacker pays an escalating, unrecoverable sum per head, while one honest joiner pays almost nothing.
